Cisco is becoming a bigger beneficiary of the AI buildout as demand for networking equipment accelerates, while Super Micro raised expectations for another huge year of server growth. Goldman Sachs also made a multibillion-dollar push into active ETFs as Wall Street looks for new ways to capture investor demand.

Market Pulse

Inflation Gives the Fed More Room to Wait

July consumer prices came in relatively mild, strengthening the case for the Federal Reserve to leave rates unchanged at its September meeting. Combined with last week’s weak employment report, the data gives policymakers more reason to wait for additional evidence before tightening again.

AI Earnings Keep the Rally’s Engine Running

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq finished Wednesday higher as another round of strong AI infrastructure results reinforced confidence in the spending boom. CoreWeave, Super Micro Computer, Nebius, and several semiconductor names all benefited, showing that the market is still willing to reward companies that can connect AI investment with accelerating demand.

AI & Networking

Cisco’s AI Orders Are Becoming Too Big to Ignore

Cisco forecast fiscal 2027 revenue above Wall Street expectations as hyperscalers and enterprises continued spending heavily on the networking equipment needed to connect AI data centers. The company booked billions of dollars of AI infrastructure orders during the latest quarter, giving it a growing role in an investment cycle once dominated almost entirely by chipmakers.

Nebius Says Customers Are Fighting for AI Capacity

Nebius beat quarterly revenue expectations as the value of its AI cloud contracts nearly quadrupled. Management also raised its power-capacity target and said current demand is strong enough that its planned 2027 capacity could already be absorbed, another sign that computing supply remains tight despite enormous industry spending.

Servers & Optical Infrastructure

Super Micro Raises the Ceiling on AI Server Demand

Super Micro Computer issued a fiscal 2027 revenue forecast well above Wall Street estimates as customers continue building increasingly large AI clusters. Better-than-expected margins added to the optimism, suggesting the company may be able to pair rapid server growth with improving profitability rather than simply chasing volume.

Lumentum Shows Why AI Needs More Than Chips

Lumentum’s quarterly revenue more than doubled as demand surged for the optical components that move data between AI servers. The company also issued a much stronger outlook for the new quarter, underscoring how quickly the AI buildout is spilling into lasers, transceivers, and other networking hardware needed to keep massive computing clusters connected.

Consumer & Travel

Nelson Peltz Wants to Take Wendy’s Private

Nelson Peltz’s Trian Fund Management is assembling a group of investors for a potential takeover of Wendy’s. The group could include one of the restaurant chain’s franchisees, turning a struggling public-market story into another example of private capital circling consumer brands whose valuations have fallen out of favor.

Air Canada Finds Value Hidden Inside Aeroplan

Air Canada shares jumped after the carrier sold a minority stake in its Aeroplan loyalty program, unlocking cash that can be used to reduce debt and fund share repurchases. Management also expects a strong fall travel season as corporate demand improves, showing how loyalty programs and premium customers are becoming increasingly important profit drivers for major airlines.

Deals & Capital

Shein’s IPO Is Running Into a Valuation Reality Check

Shein is preparing for its Hong Kong listing while slower growth tests investor appetite. The fast-fashion company is now targeting a valuation far below its private-market peak as higher costs, tougher regulation, and weaker growth force investors to reconsider whether it still deserves the premium once attached to its business model.

Goldman Sachs Makes a $2.3 Billion Bet on Active ETFs

Goldman Sachs agreed to acquire ETF manager Neos Investments for as much as $2.25 billion, expanding its presence in one of asset management’s fastest-growing areas. Neos manages roughly $30 billion across strategies that combine indexes with options, giving Goldman a bigger foothold as investors increasingly look beyond traditional passive ETFs for income and downside protection.

Movers and Shakers

Cerebras Systems [CBRS]: Premarket Move: −17%

Cerebras tumbled after quarterly results highlighted the cost of scaling its AI infrastructure business. Revenue came in at $180.1 million versus $194.2 million expected, while adjusted gross margin slipped to 40.6% from 46.5% as rented computing capacity raised costs, even as cloud-services demand continued to surge.

StubHub [STUB]: Premarket Move: −19%

StubHub plunged after record World Cup demand failed to translate cleanly into bottom-line growth. Revenue climbed 33% to $573.1 million and gross merchandise sales reached $3.1 billion, but higher costs, regulatory uncertainty, and a softer second-half setup overshadowed the record activity.

Cisco Systems [CSCO]: Premarket Move: −6%

Cisco fell despite record results from an AI-driven networking boom, with quarterly revenue rising 18% to $17.3 billion. Gross margin slipped to 66.3% from 68.4%, leaving the market focused on profitability pressure and the increasingly high bar Cisco has to clear as AI infrastructure demand accelerates.

Retirement Window Opening (Sponsored)

One analyst believes Elon Musk’s latest AI breakthrough could collide with a market pattern that has preceded major booms for decades.

The last time these forces lined up, investors reportedly had a chance to turn $10,000 into as much as $366,000 in 14 months.

He says a similar window may be opening again—and it may not stay open long.

We keep our own money in each one, because analysis you won't fund yourself is just content.

THE UNBREAKABLE STACK
Our growth book: durable software and cybersecurity names built to compound quietly for years.
