Markets finally got some inflation relief, but the sector picture remains uneven. Chip infrastructure and AI drug development are attracting fresh capital, while enterprise software faces tighter budgets and renewed Iran tensions keep oil risk elevated.

Market Pulse
Stocks Rally as Inflation Finally Breaks Lower
Global stocks moved higher after U.S. headline inflation unexpectedly fell in June, pulling Treasury yields and the dollar lower while reducing fears of an imminent Fed rate hike. The softer print gives the rally more room to broaden, although Fed Chair Kevin Warsh cautioned that one month of data is not enough to declare inflation defeated.
China’s Economy Slows to a Three-Year Low
China’s economy grew just 4.3% in the second quarter, missing forecasts as weak consumption and falling investment offset strong manufacturing and exports. Beijing may respond with targeted support, but the bigger market concern is that China remains heavily dependent on foreign demand while households and property stay under pressure.

AI & Semiconductors
Intel Puts ASML’s Next-Generation Machine to Work
Intel is using ASML’s advanced High NA lithography equipment to help manufacture Panther Lake laptop processors. The roughly $400 million machines could eventually become essential for smaller, more powerful chips, making Intel’s early production use an important test for both companies.
More Chinese Companies Get Nvidia’s H200 Green Light
ZTE and two other Chinese firms have received U.S. approval to purchase advanced chips from Nvidia and AMD. The licenses reopen a valuable slice of China demand for U.S. chipmakers, although Beijing’s push for domestic alternatives means approval does not guarantee that every sale will proceed.

AI Infrastructure & Software
IBM Gets Caught on the Wrong Side of AI Spending
IBM warned that companies are redirecting technology budgets from traditional software toward servers, memory, storage, and cybersecurity, causing several large deals to slip and sending its shares sharply lower. The warning exposes a growing split in the AI trade: infrastructure providers are capturing the spending boom while parts of enterprise software face tighter budgets.
CoreWeave Looks to Hedge the Memory Boom
CoreWeave is exploring financial derivatives to protect itself against a future drop in memory-chip prices. Long-term supply contracts have secured scarce components, but their price floors could become expensive if new production eventually pushes DRAM and storage prices back down.

Energy & Mobility
Oil Climbs as the Iran Conflict Escalates Again
Oil prices extended their gains after the U.S. reinstated its blockade of Iranian ports and both sides launched another round of attacks. Physical supplies remain adequate for now, but further disruption around Hormuz could quickly add another inflation premium to crude.
Electric Taxis Give China an Oil-Shock Buffer
China is leaning on its rapidly electrifying taxi and ride-hailing fleet to reduce exposure to higher fuel prices. Roughly half of the country’s taxis are already electric—and nearly all are electric in major cities—helping gasoline and diesel consumption fall even as road travel increases.

Healthcare & Biotech
Celcuity Wins Its First FDA Approval
The FDA approved Celcuity’s Revtorpyk for an advanced form of breast cancer, giving the biotech company its first commercial product. Late-stage data showed the treatment combination sharply reduced the risk of progression or death, but the company must now prove it can compete in a crowded oncology market.
AI Drug Development Gets a $2.5 Billion Partnership
Bora Pharmaceuticals and Insilico Medicine announced a potential collaboration valued at more than $2.5 billion. The companies plan to apply AI across drug development, manufacturing, supply chains, and quality systems, extending the technology’s reach well beyond discovering new molecules.

Movers and Shakers

Aehr Test Systems [AEHR]: Premarket Move: +30%
Aehr Test Systems surged after the company topped fiscal fourth-quarter forecasts and entered the new year with record bookings and backlog. Revenue rose 34% to $18.8 million, while management projected fiscal 2027 sales of $130 million to $150 million, up sharply from $50 million last year.
Lam Research [LRCX]: Premarket Move: +4%
Lam Research climbed as semiconductor-equipment stocks benefited from cooler inflation and fresh evidence that companies are shifting more spending toward AI hardware. June core inflation came in below expectations, while IBM’s spending warning reinforced demand for the servers, storage, and memory infrastructure that supports Lam’s chipmaking-equipment business.
Pentair [PNR]: Premarket Move: −18%
Pentair plunged after RBC Capital downgraded the stock to Sector Perform and cut its price target to $74 from $101. Pool inventory reductions are expected to cut sales by roughly $170 million in Q2 and $250 million for the full year, while reduced guidance and the recent departure of its CFO added to investor concerns.

Tax Strategy (Sponsored)
Many investors overlook deductions that could help minimize capital gains tax, such as:
Eligible investment expenses
Cost basis adjustments
Selling costs tied to property
Each comes with IRS rules and reporting requirements. That’s why consulting a fiduciary financial advisor is often recommended.
