Today’s jobs number landed nowhere close to what anyone expected, and stocks somehow liked it anyway.

Regulators also dropped a proposal that could reshape how everyday investors access a corner of Wall Street once reserved for the ultra-wealthy. Tonight's numbers have more texture than the headline suggests.

Markets

The economy added just 29,000 jobs in September, far short of forecasts, while the unemployment rate ticked up to 4.2 percent and wage growth slowed to its weakest pace since 2021. Traders read the soft print as proof the Fed will not need to hike aggressively, and the Nasdaq rallied hard on that relief.

The Group of Seven agreed to release 100 million barrels of oil and fuel from emergency reserves to ease pressure on diesel prices, seemingly defusing talk of a U.S. export ban.

Meanwhile, the SEC floated new rules that would let everyday investors buy into private equity and venture funds for the first time. France’s bond yields kept climbing too, hitting levels not seen since 2008.

Market-Moving News

Technology Hardware & Storage

Hewlett Packard Enterprise shares climbed 6.9% after Daiwa upgraded the stock to Outperform and raised its price target to $75, citing stronger networking prospects and major server contracts supporting its infrastructure business.

Seagate and Western Digital shares fell after a report said Toshiba plans to double hard-drive production capacity by fiscal 2027, intensifying competition as the Japanese rival targets growing demand from AI data centers.

Autos & Transportation

Rivian delivered a record 19,248 vehicles in the third quarter as its lower-priced R2 SUV gained traction, beating Wall Street estimates while maintaining its annual delivery forecast of 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles.

Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles in the third quarter, exceeding Wall Street estimates as recovering European demand helped offset the loss of U.S. tax incentives and tougher competition in China, sending shares higher.

Defense & Aerospace

RTX secured a $24.4 billion Pentagon contract for SM-6 interceptor missiles, but shares edged lower as concerns about future defense budget growth and political uncertainty overshadowed the latest expansion of its missile business.

Northrop Grumman was downgraded by RBC to Sector Perform as the bank cut its price target to $525 from $640, citing slower growth prospects, limited international exposure, and a more cautious defense spending outlook.

Media & Advertising

Paramount Skydance will adopt the Skydance name after completing its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, while preserving the separate Paramount and Warner Bros. studio identities as the companies prepare to combine their operations.

Meta and Alphabet showed the strongest near-term advertising trends in Evercore’s survey of seven agency executives, with improving returns supporting Meta’s market-share gains and resilient search demand sustaining Google’s position in digital advertising.

Healthcare & Medical

UnitedHealth and Centene face earnings risks from the administration’s Obamacare fraud crackdown, as analysts warn of a costlier patient mix following enrollment removals, with insurers’ premium rates for 2027 already locked in.

Integra LifeSciences shares fell 16.2% after the medical technology company cut its annual revenue and earnings forecasts, citing continued disruption from July flooding at its Cincinnati manufacturing facility that weighed on preliminary quarterly results.

Top Winners and Losers

Stablecoin Development Corporation [SDEV] $7.48 (+104.37%)

Stablecoin Development Corporation more than doubled as traders piled back into the name on pure momentum, chasing a breakout with no single fresh headline attached to today’s move.

The stock has swung wildly since rebranding earlier this year into a crypto treasury play, and today’s spike fits that established pattern. When sentiment turns in this corner of the market, it turns fast.

Republic Power Group [RPGL] $37.19 (+41.95%)

Republic Power Group extended its multi-week tear, still riding the aftershocks of its reverse split and a recent share sale filing that traders have simply refused to punish.

At this point, the stock behaves less like a predictable investment and more like a runaway freight train picking up speed with every session. Nobody seems eager to be the one who jumps off first.

Picard Medical [PMI] $5.78 (+33.80%)

Picard Medical is still popping after posting quarterly revenue that beat forecasts last month, giving the small medical device maker a business reason to rally rather than just a speculative one.

Beating expectations tends to carry extra weight for a company this size, since it suggests actual commercial traction rather than hype. The market rewarded that proof point today.

Roze AI [RZAI] $19.90 (-24.59%)

Roze AI pulled back sharply with no clear negative headline behind the move, the kind of air pocket that tends to hit richly valued AI names once enthusiasm cools even slightly.

There was no earnings miss or downgrade driving this one. Sometimes a stock just runs out of new buyers at the top of its range and gravity does the rest.

Nexalin Technology [NXL] $5.73 (-24.11%)

Nexalin gave back a big chunk of yesterday’s pop after announcing a new global commercial advisor, a classic case of a stock front-running good news and then settling once the initial excitement faded.

The underlying hire has not changed. Only the enthusiasm around it has cooled, which is a familiar pattern for small caps that move this fast on a single headline.

Integra LifeSciences [IART] $12.68 (-21.19%)

Integra LifeSciences slid after cutting its 2026 guidance, citing flooding that disrupted operations at a key facility and forced the company to walk back expectations investors had already priced in.

A weather-related disruption is not a fundamental flaw in the business, but Wall Street rarely waits around to find that out. The guidance cut did all the damage today.

A stock rallies hard in the final 10 minutes on heavy volume. Do you trust the move, or assume it's index rebalancing noise?

Everything Else

You Read This Far. Here's Where the Real Work Lives.

We run three live portfolios on Autopilot, and everything about them is public: every position, every allocation, every trade, visible the moment it happens.

We keep our own money in each one, because analysis you won't fund yourself is just content.

THE UNBREAKABLE STACK
Our growth book: durable software and cybersecurity names built to compound quietly for years.

THE HORMUZ PREMIUM
Our energy thesis: built for how that sector actually pays, over quarters, not headlines.

THE ELON INDEX
Our conviction bet on the Musk universe: Tesla, and the companies orbiting his ventures, energy, AI, infrastructure. High-beta by design, for investors who want direct exposure to the trade rather than watching it from the sidelines.

And here's the part that makes it effortless: Autopilot does the trading for you. Connect the brokerage you already use (Robinhood, Schwab, Fidelity, and more) and every move we make gets mirrored in your own account automatically.

Your money never leaves your brokerage. It stays in your account, under your control, and you can override any trade or disconnect anytime. Autopilot even rebalances automatically when allocations drift, and you get a notification every time something happens.

No watching tickers. No timing entries. No fat-finger mistakes at market open. You pick the portfolio, we do the work, your account follows along.

Pick the one that fits your risk level, or run all three:

Live portfolios, real positions, our own capital at stake. Your funds stay in your own brokerage account. Past performance doesn't guarantee future results.

That's it for today! Please, write us back, and let us know what you think of the Closing Bell Roundup. We're always eager to hear feedback!

Thanks for reading. I'll see you at the next open!

Best Regards,
