Red Cat Holdings (NASDAQ: RCAT) has deepened its footprint in military drone production through a new partnership with Empirical Systems Aerospace (ESAero). The move will scale up the output of its Black Widow platform, a key piece of the U.S. Army’s Short Range Reconnaissance (SRR) program.
ESAero brings aerospace-certified manufacturing capacity to the table, ensuring Red Cat can meet surging demand with precision and speed. The company’s facilities in California will be used to manufacture critical components for the Black Widow and future drone systems, enhancing Red Cat’s ability to deliver mission-ready units at scale.
For investors, this could be a pivotal moment. Securing trusted defense manufacturing capacity signals Red Cat’s transition from prototype-heavy development into a volume-ready defense supplier. That’s the kind of shift that can drive more predictable revenue and stronger government partnerships.
There’s also an upside from visibility. With the company confirming likely inclusion in the Russell 2000 index, institutional eyes may soon follow. Red Cat is already projecting most of its 2025 revenue to arrive in the second half of the year as production ramps up.
As global drone demand rises, partnerships like this will define who captures long-term contracts. Red Cat’s focus on scale could set it apart from the crowded field of small defense tech players.

Ford (NYSE: F) is recalling nearly 1.1 million vehicles across its U.S. lineup due to a rearview camera software issue that may cause images to freeze, lag, or fail to display, posing a safety risk for drivers.
The recall spans a broad range of models, including the F-150, Mustang Mach-E, Bronco, Escape, Ranger, Navigator, and several Lincoln variants produced between 2021 and 2025.
According to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the glitch comes from specific software variants tied to the vehicles’ dashboard operating system.
Ford engineers traced the problem earlier this year after over three dozen consumer complaints and one minor crash were linked to faulty rear camera displays. Dealers will resolve the issue via over-the-air updates or on-site service, with customer notifications scheduled to begin in mid-June.
This recall highlights the growing complexity of modern vehicle systems and the pressure on automakers to deliver robust software performance alongside reliable hardware. Recalls of this scale may not significantly dent earnings, but they raise concerns about customer confidence, compliance scrutiny, and Ford’s push to lead in tech-enabled vehicles.
In a market increasingly driven by digital features, even minor recurring software issues can create long-term brand risks.

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) has acquired Silicon Valley-based startup Enosemi, a move to enhance AMD’s efforts in co-packaged optics and AI system performance. Enosemi specializes in silicon photonics, a technology that utilizes light to transfer data, enabling chips to run faster.
This acquisition helps AMD reduce its dependency on traditional electrical designs and positions it to meet the high-speed data transfer needs of next-generation AI workloads. Enosemi had already been working with AMD as a development partner, but this deal brings the team and its intellectual property fully in-house.
From an investment viewpoint, this expands AMD’s long-term advantage in the AI hardware race. The company is stacking its portfolio with the building blocks needed to compete more aggressively with rivals like Nvidia and Intel, not just on GPUs but on infrastructure that supports massive AI workloads.
Enosemi’s expertise in optical interconnects could help AMD make AI data centers more efficient by shrinking latency and power consumption, a key concern as AI models grow larger.
AMD’s latest move follows a $4.9 billion acquisition of ZT Systems, reinforcing its strategy to invest heavily in hardware and design that support future AI growth. As AI reshapes computing, this acquisition signals AMD’s intent to lead on performance, not just price.
