Markets

Fed Governor Waller said he'd support holding rates steady if August inflation cooperates, and September hike odds fell from 66% to 50-50 on those words alone; the 10-year retreated from its 2026 highs and the VP called a hold "proper and responsible."

Snowflake beat estimates, raised guidance, and credited AI product adoption for the upside — the stock jumped more than 20% and handed the software sector its first clean win after Palo Alto's rough Wednesday.

Bitcoin retook $80,000 as global bond yields retreated, with spot ETF inflows confirming this is institutional positioning, not retail noise. ChargePoint reported Q2 revenue of $116 million on an 18% year-over-year gain, with a record 38% gross margin and an EBITDA loss that narrowed 78%.

For a stock this beaten down, delivering a genuine turnaround produces violent moves. Friday's jobs report is the last major data point before the Fed decides whether Waller's signal holds.

Enterprise & Industrial Technology

Keysight Pushes Deeper Into Automotive AI Safety

Keysight Technologies partnered with the University of York to develop validation methods for AI systems used in software-defined vehicles, focusing on safety evidence, scoring methodologies, and compliance with emerging automotive standards as artificial intelligence takes on a larger role inside vehicle controls.

The work is expected to feed into Keysight’s AI Software Integrity Builder, giving automakers and suppliers a more structured way to test AI behavior and document safety throughout the product lifecycle before advanced systems reach production vehicles.

Vishay Targets 5G, Satellites and Defense With New Chips

Vishay Intertechnology launched a new thin-film resistor series built for high-frequency applications reaching up to 50 GHz, targeting telecom infrastructure, LEO satellites, 5G and 6G networks, drones, radar systems, and other aerospace and defense equipment.

The CHEP components are now available in two compact sizes and are designed to handle higher power in demanding RF environments, giving Vishay another specialized product line for communications and defense systems, where component performance becomes increasingly important as frequencies rise.

Retail & Consumer

Duluth Trading Raises Guidance as Turnaround Gains Ground

Duluth Holdings raised its full-year outlook after stronger results as adjusted earnings reached $0.50 per share on $121.4 million in quarterly revenue, with profitability improving for a fifth consecutive quarter despite continued pressure on overall sales.

Management is leaning on tighter inventory, better sourcing and operating discipline to rebuild margins, giving the workwear retailer more room to improve cash generation even before a stronger top-line recovery takes hold.

Buckle Keeps Store Sales Growing Through August

The Buckle reported another increase in comparable-store sales with August comps rising 1.6% and monthly net sales climbing 3.6% to $123.5 million, extending the apparel retailer’s positive sales trend into the second half of the year.

Comparable sales are now up 3.2% across the first 30 weeks of the fiscal year, while total sales have risen 5%, giving Buckle steady momentum across its 447-store network despite a cautious broader consumer environment.

Deals & Acquisitions

PlusAI Strikes $800 Million Deal to Go Public

PlusAI agreed to go public through a merger with Nasdaq-listed Texas Ventures Acquisition III in a transaction valuing the autonomous-trucking software developer at roughly $800 million before new capital, as it prepares to move its Level 4 SuperDrive technology from testing toward commercial deployment.

The transaction can provide roughly $300 million in funding, giving PlusAI additional capital to integrate its software with truckmakers including Hyundai, IVECO and TRATON ahead of a targeted 2027 commercial launch of factory-built autonomous trucks

Equity Bancshares Adds $1.7 Billion Iowa Bank

Equity Bancshares agreed to acquire Lincoln Bancorp for $123.8 million, adding 16 Iowa branches and expanding its community-banking footprint through Lincoln Savings Bank, which held about $1.7 billion in assets, $1.2 billion in loans and $1.5 billion in deposits at the end of June.

The combination would lift Equity’s pro forma assets to roughly $9.1 billion and is expected to add about 5.1% to 2027 earnings per share, extending an acquisition strategy that has now produced 27 strategic transactions since the bank’s founding.

Healthcare & Medicine

AbbVie’s Blood Cancer Drug Delivers Strong Phase 3 Results

AbbVie reported strong late-stage blood cancer results for etentamig, with the experimental multiple myeloma treatment producing a 74% response rate and cutting the risk of disease progression or death by 60% compared with standard therapies in a 393-patient Phase 3 study.

One-year survival reached 87.9% versus 72% for standard treatment, giving AbbVie another potential oncology growth driver as the company broadens its portfolio beyond Humira and builds around newer medicines in cancer, immunology, and neuroscience.

GoodRx Expands Into Family Healthcare Subscriptions

GoodRx introduced a new family healthcare subscription that provides more than 250 generic medications at no additional cost, plus discounted telehealth, vision, dental, and laboratory services for households paying $24.99 per month, expanding its Companion program beyond individual memberships.

The company plans to offer Companion through employers beginning January 1, 2027, opening another distribution channel after subscription revenue climbed 39% year over year in the second quarter and enrollment exceeded management’s expectations.

Infrastructure & Power

Matrix Service Builds a $7.4 Billion Project Pipeline

Matrix Service outlined a $7.4 billion opportunity pipeline spanning LNG storage, utility infrastructure, mining and data-center projects as the engineering contractor returned to quarterly profitability and more than doubled gross profit from a year earlier.

Year-end backlog stood at $953 million, while management expects strong domestic spending on natural gas, power and data-center infrastructure to replenish project awards after a year in which the company secured $641.7 million of new work.

Energy Vault Locks Down a Major Battery Storage Site

Energy Vault completed the land acquisition for Stoney Creek, securing the site for a 125-megawatt, 1-gigawatt-hour battery project in Australia that will provide eight hours of dispatchable storage and is scheduled to begin construction in early 2027.

The project carries a 14-year energy-services agreement and is expected to generate about $25 million to $30 million of annual revenue, expanding Energy Vault’s owned infrastructure portfolio as utilities look for longer-duration storage to support increasingly complex power grids.

Top Winners and Losers

ChargePoint [CHPT] $9.08 (+74.95%)

ChargePoint doesn’t own or operate its EV chargers — it sells the hardware, software, and services to the businesses that do.

That capital-light model finally started showing up in the margins: Q2 gross margin hit a record 38%, the adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed 78% to -$4.8 million, and revenue beat estimates.

CEO Rick Wilmer called the stock surge “the beginning of the momentum,” and the market chose to believe him.

Antelope Enterprise Holdings [AEHL] $7.45 (+37.20%)

Antelope Enterprise Holdings was down 24% on September 1 and is now up 37% on September 3 — the kind of oscillation that has become standard for a name with this float structure.

The company produces consumer goods and industrial products through its China-based operations, and the moves in both directions reflect positioning mechanics more than any fundamental development.

bioAffinity Technologies [BIAF] $12.78 (+31.08%)

bioAffinity’s CancerSEEK lung cancer detection test has driven four consecutive sessions of 30-48% gains, taking the stock from roughly $4.50 to $12.78.

The new CyPath Lung surveillance update is moving capital into the name, and four sessions of institutional-level volume on a company with $7.57 million in total value means the momentum is outrunning any single fundamental catalyst.

Ultragenyx [RARE] $14.85 (-44.03%)

Ultragenyx develops treatments for rare and ultra-rare metabolic diseases. A Phase 3 trial failure wiped nearly half the company’s value in a single session, erasing roughly $1.1 billion in market capitalization.

Ultragenyx has a pipeline of programs including Wilson disease, Angelman syndrome, and other conditions where the patient population is small but the unmet need is severe — which means each clinical read is existential to the near-term investment case. Buy rated.

Research Alliance Corp III [RACC] $12.37 (-37.37%)

Research Alliance Corp III was up 48% on September 1 and is down 37% on September 3, which is an entirely mechanical story: the SPAC’s deal excitement built on thin volume, peaked when the underlying announcement couldn’t support the premium, and is now reversing toward its trust floor.

Nothing has changed about the deal. Everything has changed about the positioning.

MindForge [MF] $10.79 (-21.18%)

MindForge’s AI workforce management platform has now appeared on the losers list for four consecutive sessions — a full week of giving back August’s gains.

The stock is down more than 40% from its August peak with no company-specific negative news, which is the clearest possible signal that the unwinding of the position is mechanical rather than fundamental.

Everything Else

You Read This Far. Here's Where the Real Work Lives.

We run three live portfolios on Autopilot, and everything about them is public: every position, every allocation, every trade, visible the moment it happens.

We keep our own money in each one, because analysis you won't fund yourself is just content.

THE UNBREAKABLE STACK
Our growth book: durable software and cybersecurity names built to compound quietly for years.

THE HORMUZ PREMIUM
Our energy thesis: built for how that sector actually pays, over quarters, not headlines.

THE SQUEEZE
The defensive sleeve: staples and steady compounders, boring on purpose, built for the nights you'd rather sleep than watch futures.

And here's the part that makes it effortless: Autopilot does the trading for you. Connect the brokerage you already use (Robinhood, Schwab, Fidelity, and more) and every move we make gets mirrored in your own account automatically.

Your money never leaves your brokerage. It stays in your account, under your control, and you can override any trade or disconnect anytime. Autopilot even rebalances automatically when allocations drift, and you get a notification every time something happens.

No watching tickers. No timing entries. No fat-finger mistakes at market open. You pick the portfolio, we do the work, your account follows along.

Pick the one that fits your risk level, or run all three:

Live portfolios, real positions, our own capital at stake. Your funds stay in your own brokerage account. Past performance doesn't guarantee future results.

That's it for today! Please, write us back, and let us know what you think of the Closing Bell Roundup. We're always eager to hear feedback!

Thanks for reading. I'll see you at the next open!
